Rome is a city located in the central-western portion of the Italian peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the river Tiber. In the city of Rome is Vatican City, an independent country within the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome’s history spans more than two and a half thousand years, while the city’s early history is particularly obscure.

The town was the center of the Roman Empire, ruled by several monarchs and dictators over the centuries. In more recent history, Rome was the capital of the Italian Republic from 1946 until the present day.

The government systems in Rome city are pretty complicated. Different government systems are in place for different types of people. For example, there is a government system for the citizens, which is different from the design for the enslaved people. There is also a government system for the military, which is different from the government system for civilians.

How Big is Rome City?

The city is home to a population greater than 2.8 million people. Since ancient times, when the pontifex Maximus was at the center of Roman religion and when the Vatican and the pope made Rome their home, Christians have made the city of Rome a pilgrimage destination. The town is filled with several historical landmarks and tourist attractions and is a popular destination for visitors worldwide.
